  • Economics of Climate Change
    Dr. Ivo Menzinger of Swiss Re presented his answers at a breakfast briefing on 2 March 2007 to a number of pressing questions on climate change. These included: in what way can climate change affect modern economics, what can insurers do to mitigate this risk and how might that affect business?

  • The Business Forecast on Climate Change
    Dr. Steve Howard, CEO and co-founder of The Climate Group (UK) - an international cross-business and cross-government organization, shared his insights at a luncheon on 19 January 2006 hosted by Business Environmental Council, with support from the HongKong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. Dr. Howard presented his view on The Business Forecast on Climate Change - what's fact and what's fiction on the climate issue, who's taking action, how they're doing it and why, as well as real examples of companies driving down carbon emission whilst increasing profit margins.

  • Global Expert: Emission Trading in Pearl River Delta
    A roundtable discussion on Emission Trading in the PRD was organized by BEC's Business-led Initiative on Air Pollution on 31 October 2005 at Mallesons Stephen Jaques office. Guest speaker, Mr. Jeremy Schreifels, senior environmental protection specialist with the US Environmental Protection Agency office of Atmospheric Programmes, is highly experienced in the use of market-based policies and has assisted governments in several continents in setting up air quality programmes through the use of emission trading. He has also been actively involved in supporting the Chinese government in developing such programmes in six Mainland cities and he shared the latest thinking in regional air quality management.
