
The Climate Change Business Forum (CCBF) is an initiative of the Business Environment Council (BEC). Its mission is to provide a unique leadership platform for business and climate leaders to understand and respond to the opportunities and risks brought from climate change, as well as the policies and regulations addressing to the issue.
The CCBF will also fund research on the impacts of climate change to business both in Hong Kong and internationally, as well as how the business should be adapting and reducing their emissions. Sharing of best practice will be a high priority. All findings will be communicated to the business community and to the government to speed up action in emission reduction.
CCBF brings together industry leaders from the Power and Energy Sector, Transport, Property, Manufacturing and Financial Services. Currently, we have five high profile Patron companies including: Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd, Hang Lung Properties Ltd, HSBC, Sino Group and Standard Chartered Hong Kong. Our Gold members include Aegis Media, Arup, The Bank of East Asia, Chevalier Group, CLP Holdings Ltd, DTZ, Great Eagle Holdings Ltd, Hang Seng Bank, The Hongkong Electric Co Ltd, Hongkong Land Holdings Ltd, Hongkong International Terminals, Lai Sun Group, MTR, OCCL, Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd, Swire Pacific Ltd, Towngas and Q3 Global (as of November 2008).
CCBF members accept the findings of the scientists of the International Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) and acknowledge that enough is known about the science of climate change for business to take actions to address its consequences. Objectives
- To identify and communicate the opportunities and risks businesses will face from climate change
- To commission research on the impacts of climate change to business, relevant to Hong Kong on both a local and international level
- To influence the business community to take concrete steps to reduce emission and share best practice on the carbon intensity of businesses
