Since 1989, Business Environment Council has been at the forefront of Hong Kong's sustainable development, striving to build capacity and facilitate action by partnerships with business, government and community groups.

The Business Environment Council (BEC) is the longest running independent, non-profit organization in Hong Kong promoting corporate social and environmental responsibility. Set up by business for business in 1989, BEC offers sustainable business solutions covering baseline assessment, advisory, research, training and award programs for companies across all sectors and at any stage of their corporate sustainability journey. Headquartered in our own building in Hong Kong, we have additional offices in Beijing and Shenzhen.

Leading Responsible Business

Over the past two decades BEC has expanded to a network of 20,000 companies with a combined market capitalization of HK$3 trillion and 1 million employees. We have completed over 1,000 environmental programs outreaching and benefiting every industrial and service sector. For example, our BEAM (Building Environmental Assessment Method) has certified green building developments encompassing over 70 million square feet of space and 37,000 residential units. On per capita basis, BEAM is one of the most widely used voluntary green building labelling schemes of its kind in the world.
