Case Background/Context
Respirable Suspended Particulates (RSP) is defined as suspended airborne particles which is one type of air contaminants. In the indoor environment, these particulates can be categorized as microbial, animal and plant, mineral, combustion and radioactive particulates.
RSP can cause health hazards to human, e.g.respiratory problem, it can contaminate indoor furnishings and expensive electronic equipment, it can also cause severe problem during production process. The smaller size the particulates is, the more harmful it can cause.
High efficiency electronic air cleaner using Electrostatic Precipitation ESP can effectively remove 95% RSP with size down to 0.01 microns from the indoor environment with the advantage of low pressure drop compare to fabric filters. ESP are excellent devices for control of many industrial particulate emissions, e.g. power plant, incineration, etc.

High efficiency electronic air cleaners are installed inside the designated smoking rooms of the airport to remove RSP produced from huge volume of tobacco smoke. The picture clearly shows the indoor environment is so clear through the glass wall even there is 30 to 40 passengers smoking at the same time inside the room.
In some factory environment, RSP can be drawn in through doors and windows, especially when the indoor is under a negative pressure, high efficiency electronic air cleaners are installed to remove RSP that affects the sealing process of garments.
