Organized by Business Environment Council (BEC), the Hong Kong Award for Indiustries in Environemntal Performance aims to recognize outstanding achievements in environmental stewardship and promote growing importance and benefits of environmental responsibility to Hong Kong industrial and service sectors. The assessment criteria cover management systems (40%), environmental performance (40%), and legal compliance (20%). Winners are selected by an independent panel of industry, services academic and environmental experts. Initiated by BEC in 1992, the Hong Kong Awards for Industry was merged with the Hong Kong Awards for Services to form the Hong Kong Awards for Industries in 2005.

The winners of HKAI have embraced environmental and social responsibility as their core corporate commitment. They are all environmental leaders and ambassadors with forward thinking vision.
