Cathay Pacific looks at all aspects of its environmental impacts, including its emissions on the ground. For several years now, we have been looking at ways to decrease our electricity consumption, and this is led by our Energy Savings Committee. Most recently, in 2007, we installed a heat recovery system in our Flight Training Centre with an investment cost of HK$388,000 and installed a new Boeing 777-300ER flight simulator that does not require hydraulic power. Both these installations save us 238,271 kWh or 136 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

Apart from our building efficiencies, we are working towards our ground vehicle emissions and look forward to reporting progress in the next year.
