Organization Profile
Canada's relations with Hong Kong include longstanding and comprehensive political, commercial, and people-to-people ties. In addition to deep-rooted historical ties, Canada and Hong Kong share common values, among them respect for the rule of law, human rights and individual freedoms. Canada and Hong Kong also enjoy productive cooperation in the context of multilateral organizations to which they are both members, such as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum (APEC) and the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Environment and Sustainability Highlights
Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT) has the responsibility for coordinating, developing and advancing Canada's bilateral, regional and international positions on environment, energy security and sustainable development issues. In this capacity, the specific issues of biological diversity; climate change; desertification; energy policies; freshwater issues; human settlements; ozone, chemicals, waste and air pollution; sustainable forest management; trade and the environment are addressed.
