Eligibility
The Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Environmental Performance is open to all manufacturing and service companies which possess valid business registered certificate in Hong Kong. Applicants need to be registered and operating in Hong Kong in the year prior to the application deadline, 31 July 2009.
Companies with the same first eight digits in their Business Registration numbers are considered as a single entry.
Organisations in the service sector with major operations in Hong Kong are eligible to enter the Award. The location of activities need not necessarily be confined to Hong Kong for manufacturing sector. However, at least one or more of the critical manufacturing-related processes such as design, research and development, tooling, quality control, product development, logistic control, etc must be carried out in Hong Kong to support overall in-house manufacturing operations.
The Business Environment Council as the organizer of the Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Environmental Performance has the final decision on the eligibility of applicants.
Judging Criteria
Entries are evaluated with due consideration to the nature and scale of their businesses. The judging criteria will cover three areas:
Part One - Company Commitment to Environmental Protection
Entrants will need to demonstrate that outstanding environmental considerations are included in their day-to-day operations.
Part Two - Improvement in Environmental Performance
Entrants will need to show progress and advancement in minimizing various environmental impacts of their operations through the adoption of cleaner technologies, innovative ideas and process re-engineering, etc.
Part Three - Compliance with Environmental Legislation
Compliance with applicable environmental legislation will be evaluated across all operations and sites of the entrant (both local and mainland). The evaluation will be based upon a self-declaration approach, in which, a self-declaration statement on legal compliance, complaint(s), and warning received for the last 12 months of operation is required to be submitted for evaluation.
Recognition
Winning Companies will receive the prestigious Hong Kong Awards for Industries Trophies / Certificates in recognition of their success at the high profile ceremony in early 2010 with wide coverage in the media.
The Grand Award and Award winners will be entitled to display the official Hong Kong Awards for Industries logo on letterhead, envelope, compliment slip, advertising and promotional materials for three years.
