BEC Member Dunwell: the first Hong Kong Company receives the IChemE ABB Engineering Services Environment Award
BEC General Member, Dunwell Engineering Co Ltd, is the first Hong Kong Company to receive the IChemE ABB Engineering Services Environment Award presented by UK's Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).
The IChemE is a professional body for chemical and process engineers founded in 1922, with an international membership across more than 80 countries. The annual IChemE Award programme encourages, celebrates and rewards innovation and excellence which make outstanding contribution to safety, the environment, sustainable development and other aspects of the process industries. This is their thirteenth year in organizing the award.
Competing against finalists from giant global companies, such as Alstom, Atkins/Krystallon/ BP Marine, AstraZeneca (APIs in effluent) and Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, Dunwell's VMAT (Vibrating Membrane Advanced Treatment) simple yet innovative design has won the judges' vote. Besides being the first commercial vibrating membrane system in the world for used oil recycling, VMAT revolutionary zero secondary pollution used oil recycling also attracts judges attention. Its low operation temperature also means a much lower operation cost and better energy efficiency. In addition, VMAT has been adopted as the preferred recycling technology by Beijing government to prepare for a green 2008 Olympics and is being enquired by Japan, Indonesia, European as well as North American countries.
