Waste management one of the key focus areas of BEC. BEC has been actively initiating programmes for both business and government in realizing sustainable waste management through various engagement programmes and research studies.
Especially since the release of the Policy Framework for the Management of Municipal Solid Waste by the government in 2005, BEC have been engaged in specific programmes and briefings such as Integrated Waste Management Facilities Public Engagement Programme and Municipal Solid Waste Charging Trial Scheme.
BEC also sets up the Waste Management Committee and offers professional services in Waste and Recycling Audit. In 2006, we have partnered with the Environmental Protection Department and published a Waste Separation Guidebook for Residential Buildings. This guidebook has been very well received by the private sectors especially property management.
