Our Committees form the very heart of our mission - to enable Hong Kong businesses to share their perspectives on sustainable development from the commercial standpoint. Typical activities include:
- Inviting leaders from government, business and civic society to give briefings on the latest policies and trends relating to sustainable development;
- Initiating programs to raise awareness, exchange information and catalyse progress towards sustainable development; and
- Formulating responses to government consultations and BEC position papers to reflect business sentiment on specific issues as deemed appropriate.
Committee participants govern the direction and activities of their groups by consensus, with regular reports to the Board of Directors. Participation is open to all BEC members, be they Council, General or Associate. Non-BEC members can, at the discretion of each Committee, be invited to join as advisors or observers on a temporary or longer-term basis.
