BEC has organised an Industry Visit to Hong Kong Organic Waste Recycling Centre on 25 July 2014 (Friday).
Show Event Details
In 2011, over 3,500 tonnes of food waste, accounting for about 40 per cent of municipal solid waste in Hong Kong, was disposed at landfills every day. While enjoying delicious food, we need to look for solutions to ease the burden of the landfills which will soon be overflown. Food waste recycling could be one of the solutions.
BEC has organized an Industry Visit to Hong Kong Organic Waste Recycling Centre (HKOWRC) on 25 July 2014 (Friday). From this visit, guests have learnt the whole process of food waste management: from transforming food waste to organic fertilizer that can be used in hydroponic farming and mushroom propagation, which are the new farming methods that have become increasingly popular in urban farming.
