About the Event
Following the release of the 2015 Chief Executive’s Policy Address on 14 January 2015, Ms Christine Loh, Under Secretary for the Environment of the Hong Kong SAR Government, will meet with BEC members to provide first hand updates on the policies related to environmental protection and sustainable development set out in the Policy Address.
This Policy Dialogue with the Under Secretary for the Environment provides a unique opportunity for BEC members to discuss environment-related issues pertinent to Hong Kong, understand more thoroughly the policy direction and initiatives of the Government, and to express views and opinions from the perspective of the business sector.
After consulting all members, BEC submitted a paper to the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR Government in October 2014, which outlined in detail policy recommendations on further strengthening Hong Kong’s environment and sustainability. A copy of the paper was also issued to key officials of the relevant Government bureaux and departments. In addition to the core advocacy areas covered in BEC’s previous submissions (including waste management, energy policy, environmental, social and governance reporting and management, climate change, and establishment of a Harbourfront Authority), BEC has expanded the scope of advocacy to cover biodiversity and water management this year. This paper is available on BEC website.
