About
Hong Kong is at a critical juncture in its journey toward a sustainable and low-carbon future. In the 2024 Policy Address, the Chief Executive reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to accelerating green transformation through initiatives in green finance and green technologies, promoting the adoption of green building technologies, and facilitating the transformation of existing buildings to reduce carbon emissions.
Building on these policy directions, Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2050 sets outa comprehensive roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The plan focuses on net-zero electricity generation through the increased use of renewables, enhanced energy efficiency, the promotion of green buildings, and the decarbonisation of transport.
In light of these developments, the Annual Forum 2026, organised by the Environmental Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, provides a timely and
meaningful platform for experts and stakeholders to discuss green transformation strategies. The Forum aims to address the challenges and opportunities for engineers in contributing to decarbonisation, the adoption of innovative green technologies, and the implementation of effective ESG strategies. These efforts are vital for supporting Hong Kong’s sustainable development and achieving the ambitious targets set out in the government’s climate agenda.
