BEC welcomes the Government’s new pilot scheme that subsidises qualified private residential buildings to install electric vehicle charging-enabling facilities as a practical means to support EV users in terms of charging. However, it is equally important to promote and accelerate the transition to electric commercial vehicles in Hong Kong and to support the provision of charging points in locations convenient to their operation.
BEC also commends the Government’s plan to replace entire fleets of the 11 ferry routes with green ferries starting from 2021, which will contribute to further local air pollution reduction and decarbonisation of the transport sector.
