Ms Jessica Chan
Head of Sustainability, MTR Corporation Limited

Jessica is the Head of Sustainability of MTR Corporation responsible for formulating sustainability strategies and driving sustainability initiatives for the company. She developed a corporate Climate Change Strategy and leads regular review of climate risks and controls for different business units. Recently, she has formulated a long-term decarbonisation roadmap and carbon reduction targets for MTR, and developed a set of KPIs to gauge and drive the company’s performance in a wide range of sustainability aspects.

Jessica is a seasoned sustainability professional with over 25 years of experience in environmental and corporate sustainability with diverse expertise in sustainability strategies and policies, sustainability communications and disclosure, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and emerging sustainability issues. She is a member of various international and local sustainability-related committees including UITP’s Sustainable Development Committee, HKGCC’s Environment & Sustainability Committee and BEC’s Climate Change Business Forum Advisory Group. Jessica is also a member of the Board of Examiners of HKMA’s Hong Kong Sustainability Award.

 

 

 

Ms Grace Cheung
Group Head of Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility, Cathay Pacific Airways Limited

Looking after sustainable development and corporate social responsibilities for the Cathay Pacific Airways Group, Grace is a firm believer that commercial organisations have a responsibility to be proactive in terms of their environmental practices and have an obligation to give back to the communities they operate.

 

 

 

Mr Karim Fahssis
Head of Decarbonisation – China, A.P. Moller - Maersk

Karim Fahssis is heading decarbonization for Maersk in China.

As a global provider of end-to-end logistics services with the ambition to achieve carbon net zero transport by 2040, it is a strategic imperative for Maersk that we develop and identify the solutions which will enable us to deliver on our aspirations.

His main focus is on securing production and sourcing of green methanol in China in time for the delivery of Maersk new vessels. He also advises Maersk’s landside department on its decarbonization journey.

Karim Fahssis is an energy engineer by training and an entrepreneur having considerable experience with renewable energy projects. He has a strong technical background and a thorough understanding of the concepts and standards relevant to decarbonization. A French national, Karim Fahssis has been a resident of China since 2005 with his family in China. He speaks Chinese fluently. He holds a double master’s degree in mechanical engineering and fluid dynamics from Centrale Nantes engineering school (France) and energy management from the Xi’an Jiaotong University (China).

He was awarded by the MIT Technology Review as the "Innovator of the year 2014" for introducing disruptive software technologies to the global wind industry with a focus on prospecting superior resource sites and delivering bankable energy yield assessments.

 

 

 

Ms Kristy Tan
Senior Manager – Climate Resilience, Sustainability, Airport Authority Hong Kong

Kristy Tan has worked as a sustainability practitioner, both in-house and as a consultant, within public and private organisations in Hong Kong and Australia and she readily applies her skills to large, high profile infrastructure projects or operating environments.

Kristy is currently the Senior Manager for Climate Resilience for the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). She is responsible for developing and implementing environmental strategies to meet HKIA’s Greenest Airport Pledge and is dedicated to ensuring leading initiatives are scoped and implemented to achieve best practice outcomes at the HKIA.

Kristy currently leads AAHK’s Climate Change Programme which includes two strategic areas, climate adaptation and resilience and carbon management. In particular, Kristy leads the HKIA Carbon Reduction Programme which includes a partnership between AAHK and 29 Business Partners to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2050. She also leads the implementation of AAHK’s Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan. Alongside this, Kristy is responsible for sustainability, green bond and TCFD reporting. HKIA was the first airport in Asia to produce a TCFD statement in 2020/21.

Kristy is passionate about finding innovative solutions for Hong Kong as well as airport-sector sustainability issues. In Hong Kong, she is currently a Steering Committee Member for Business Environment Council’s Climate Change Business Forum and continues to contribute to cross-sector forums to advocate for Net Zero solutions.

 

 

 

Mr Craig Tuckerman
Regional Sector Head, Retail - Asia Pacific, DHL Global Forwarding

Craig Tuckerman currently the Regional Sector Head, Retail - Asia Pacific at DHL Global Forwarding as well as being the regional commercial sustainability lead in Asia Pacific. Leading the retail and fashion business development for DHL he works with retail and fashion companies to develop resilient, omnichannel supply chains. In this sustainability capacity he is responsible for bringing sustainability solutions to decarbonize logistics, as well as leading internal teams developing solutions for plastics reduction, clean energy building and alternative drive land transportation solutions. DHL is also leading the industry in investing in alternative fuels and future technologies to accelerate the change to sustainable practices in logistics.

He has been working in the logistics and supply chain industry in Asia for the past 14 years. Originally from Australia and educated across Brazil, Australia and Finland and holds master’s in international relations as well as qualifications from Harvard in sustainable supply chains.

Mr Merlin Lao
Head of Policy & Research, Business Environment Council

Mr Merlin Lao is Head of Policy & Research at BEC. He leads the team to develop clear policy positions on pressing climate and environmental topics in Hong Kong, through undertaking research on latest domestic and international trends, engaging with the Hong Kong SAR Government and connecting insights of the local business sector. He is keen on net-zero transition that not only looks at decarbonisation, but also a more equal and liveable built environment.

Mr Lao is a programme management professional with over 10 years of climate change and environment career experience across private, public and non-profit sectors in East Asia, with major exposure in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and South Korea. Prior to joining BEC, he was the senior programme manager at an international non-governmental organisation driving sustainable cities agenda in China, Japan, Mongolia and South Korea, covering topics such as air quality, low-emission development, urban resilience, circular economy and nature-based solutions.
