BEC Collaborates with NESS to Unveil Green Jobs Fair 2024 to Connect Young Talents with Green Opportunities

Business Environment Council Limited (“BEC”) and the Network of Environmental Student Societies (“NESS”) are pleased to organise the second edition of the well-received “BEC x NESS Green Jobs Fair” on 24 January at BEC Auditorium and Exhibition Hall. Building on the success of last year’s event, the fair will once again bring together companies, universities, students, and government officials to initiate a four-way discussion on the current green jobs market and opportunities. Mr Fong Kin-wa, Deputy Director of Environmental Protection Department, was invited as the Guest of Honour to officiate at the opening ceremony of the fair.

The one-day “BEC x NESS Green Jobs Fair 2024” aims to bridge the knowledge and skills gap between fresh graduates and the requirements of sustainability or ESG jobs. It featured a multi-stakeholder dialogue among government official, business leader, academic, and youngster; panel discussions, knowledge sharing workshops, and green job booths. Students and young leaders were able to leverage this platform and equip themselves with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the green job market, while participating companies could showcase the variety and availability of green jobs and sustainability programmes in Hong Kong. Through this fair, BEC and NESS hoped to provide young talents with a platform to explore the wide range of green and sustainability-related jobs available and connect them with potential employers in the market.

At the opening ceremony, Mr Simon Ng, CEO of BEC said, “The second edition of the BEC x NESS Green Jobs Fair comes at a crucial time when environmental sustainability is gaining prominence across industries. We look forward to providing a platform for students and professionals to explore career opportunities in the green economy. By connecting talent with companies, we aim to contribute to the growth of Hong Kong's green business community.”

Mr Mark Cheung, Co-founder of NESS said, “As our society transitions towards a net-zero future, every job has the potential to be a 'green job'. Our generation seeks purposeful employment that creates a positive impact. Through this fair, we hope to inspire companies to be more ambitious in their sustainability efforts and to empower young individuals to pursue meaningful careers.”
