14 March 2013: The Heat is On: Investing in an Age of Climate Volatility

BEC and its initiative Climate Change Business Forum co-organised a workshop “The Heat is On: Investing in an Age of Climate Volatility” for the Environment Bureau and the Environmental Protection Department of HKSAR Government on 14 March. This 1-day workshop aims at providing professionals in the financial services sector with an understanding of the emergent risks and benefits of preparing for a climate-challenged world, and is designed to address the needs and findings collected from a brief survey launched in early February by the Environment Bureau.

The workshop attracted nearly 200 professionals in banking, accounting, project finance, corporate finance, asset/wealth management and insurance, including a delegation from Guangdong Province. A post-workshop survey revealed that the workshop was able to narrow the gap between awareness and action, and the majority of the respondents said that the workshop stimulated them to plan for more actions.
