BEC EnviroSeries Conference Goes Online to Explore Future Urban Transport System

Business Environment Council Limited 商界環保協會有限公司 (“BEC”) held its flagship EnviroSeries Conference online today (27 November). Entitled “Urban Transport on the Move: Connecting Policies, People and Business Opportunities”, the Conference saw over 400 business leaders, entrepreneurs, industry experts and academics joining online from different time zones to explore how the urban transport system of the future can be carbon neutral, people-centric and supportive of a sustainable living environment.

Mr Richard Lancaster, Chairman of Business Environment Council, acknowledged that transport and city planning are interconnected. In the midst of the challenges we are facing due to COVID-19, climate change and other environmental issues, we should aspire to build not just a carbon-neutral and resilient city, but also one that is liveable, healthy, active and happy.

At the Conference, speakers and panellists exchanged views on various key topics, including essential elements needed to re-engineer Hong Kong’s urban transport system, the future of private vehicles and public transport services under the new normal after COVID-19, business innovation and opportunities in post-COVID-19 urban mobility, and how to promote active and inclusive transport.
