Mr Kevin O’Brien was appointed as the Chief Executive of Gammon Construction in September 2021 and is responsible for all operations across Asia. He rejoined Gammon having led JEC as their CEO from 2018 – 2021.

He has been based in Hong Kong since 1995.

Mr O’Brien is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and takes an active role in the training and development of the future generation of talent for the engineering and construction industry. He has been active with the Business Environment Council since 2018.

Professor John Chai of Fook Tin Group Holdings Limited, is a business leader who embraces visions of corporate sustainability.  Prior to joining the Fook Tin Group, Professor Chai was a full-time administrator and faculty member at Northwestern University. He has served as a Director of the Board of the Business Environment Council since 2004 and was Chairman of the Board between 2009 and 2016. Among the many initiatives that he spearheaded during his tenure as Chairman included formalizing the governance of Board and committees; structuring BEC’s corporate strategic planning and implementation; empowering members’ with their expertise and leadership to deliver impact through Advisory Groups; promoting the BEC headquarters as Hong Kong’s Green Hub; and, not the least, strengthening the strategic relationship with Hong Kong Green Building Council and the BEAM Society Limited. 

Separately, Professor Chai contributed widely to a range of organizations and public bodies. Such roles include being a member of the Chief Executive’s Council of Advisers on Innovation and Strategic Development, HKSAR, where he offers policy advice to the Chief Executive. He is recently appointed as the Chairman of University Council of Chinese University of Hong Kong after previously serving as the Vice Chairman of University Council at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Mr Peter Lee is the General Manager, Sustainability of the Airport Authority. He supports, guides and advises the Authority on the formulation and implementation of long-term sustainability strategies. Before joining the Airport Authority in June 2012, Mr Lee has over 20 years’ experience in environmental and engineering consultancy, leading and managing environmental impact assessment (EIA) studies for a number of major infrastructure and urban development projects such as Kai Tak Development, Integrated Waste Management Facilities, Harbour Area Treatment Scheme Stage 2A and Deep Bay Link. Mr Lee is a founding fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Qualified Environmental Professionals and the Secretary General of the Marine Ecology Enhancement Fund and the Fisheries Enhancement Fund.

Mr Donald Choi joined Chinachem Group in 2018 as Executive Director and the Chief Executive Officer. He has over 30 years of management experience across property development and worked as a professional architect globally. Mr Choi believes in the power of people-centric development and humane design to create shared value and enhance the quality of life for all.

Previously MD of the Nan Fung Group and a Director of Foster & Partners, Mr Choi has provided professional services for the Hong Kong Government, Airport Authority, MTR Corporation, Urban Renewal Authority, Public Works Canada and British Columbia Buildings Corporation. He was the Authorized Person for the CLK HK International Airport, voted one of the Top 10 construction projects of the 20th Century.

Alongside his professional career, he has held multiple leadership roles in NGOs and professional bodies that focus on design, innovation and the community. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at HKU, Trustee of Rhode Island School of Design, Advisory Committee Member of the HKTDC Infrastructure Development, Advisory Committee Member of PolyU Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation, Member of HKU Campus Development and Planning Committee, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design, and Honorary Advisor of Hong Kong Workers’ Health Centre. Mr Choi is the Chairperson of the Construction Innovation and Technology Application Centre and also serves on the board of Habitat of Humanity Hong Kong, Hong Kong Green Building Council, Business Environment Council, Hong Kong Design Centre and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation.

Mr David Simmonds is Chief Strategy, Sustainability and Governance Officer of CLP Holdings, the parent company of the CLP Group which is one of the largest investor operators in the electricity industry throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Mr Simmonds is responsible for CLP Group strategic planning and the strategy agenda as well as driving the Group’s sustainability agenda and ensuring that it is embedded into the business. He is also responsible for managing the investments and ventures that help support CLP’s growth strategy, the Group’s investments in Southeast Asia and Taiwan and the Group’s property development activities. In addition, Mr. Simmonds is the Group General Counsel of CLP Holdings, responsible for the provision of legal, corporate secretarial and insurance services across the Group. Mr. Simmonds is a Director of various subsidiary companies and affiliated companies of the CLP Group.

Mr Simmonds joined the CLP Group in August 2007 as General Counsel and Company Secretary of EnergyAustralia (previously known as TRUenergy) and was appointed Director – Group Legal Affairs of CLP Holdings from 1 January 2009. He became the Group General Counsel & Chief Administrative Officer on 30 September 2013. Mr Simmonds joined CLP from Telstra Corporation Ltd. in Australia, where he held a number of senior legal positions including General Counsel Technology, Innovation & Product and General Counsel Telstra Asia/Telstra Mergers and Acquisitions.

Ir Professor Daniel M. Cheng BBS, MH, JP is Managing Director of Dunwell Enviro-Tech (Holdings) Ltd. He is a Board member of Business Environment Council, Honorary President of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries and President of the Hong Kong Environmental Industries Association. Prof Cheng is also Deputy Chairman of the Hong Kong Green Strategy Alliance and Member of the HKX Advisory Committee. For the HKSAR Government, he is serving as Member of The Chief Executive’s Council of Advisers on Innovation and Strategic Development, Member of the Committee on Innovation, Technology and Re-industrialisation, Member of the Advisory Committee on Recycling Fund, and Member of the Steering Committee on the Promotion of Electric Vehicles.

Prof Cheng has consistently contributed his professional knowledge and expertise throughout his career including as the Chairman of the Hong Kong Waste Management Association (2000–2001), the Friends of the Earth (HK) (2000-2004) and the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (Jul 2015– Jul 2017), and a member of the Advisory Committee on Water Supplies (Apr 2016 – Mar 2020), the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (Jul 2013- Jul 2017), the Hong Kong Productivity Council (2009–2015) and the Vocational Training Council (2011–2015).

Since July 2015, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University appointed Prof Cheng as Professor of Practice (Management). The University of Hong Kong also appointed Prof Cheng as Honorary Professor from 2016 - 2019 where he is currently Adjunct Professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering. Prof Cheng is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers and a Registered Professional Engineer. He graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, U.S.A. Department of Industrial Engineering in 1981. In February 2014, Prof Cheng was inducted into the "Hall of Fame" by the California Polytechnic University-Pomona, as the first Asian Inductee.

Mr Randy Yu is General Manager (Community Relations) of Henderson Land Development Company Limited, steering initiatives in environmental protection, corporate citizenship and community relations.

Mr Yu is a Chartered Surveyor who possesses over 30 years of experience in construction and property development. He was also a lecturer at the University of Reading (UK), Greenwich University (UK) and the University of Hong Kong, teaching subjects in construction field. In recent years, Mr Yu has dedicated a significant proportion of his time in community works. He is the Chairman of Islands District Council, he is also a member of Development Bureau’s Lantau Development Advisory Committee, Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department’s Country and Marine Parks Board, and many more public advisory bodies. He was appointed Justice of the Peace in July 2010 and was awarded a Medal of Honour in July 2015.

Mr Yu is currently a Board Director of the Business Environment Council (“BEC”), representing Henderson Land Development Company Limited since 2016. He is also serving as the Chairman of BEC Communication and Membership Committee since September 2015. He was a Board Director of the BEC from June 2011 to February 2015, representing another listed company and was the Chairman of the BEC Communication and Membership Committee from March 2014 to February 2015.

With more than 12 years of experience in Towngas, Jasper has a wide spectrum of expertise in environmental management and sustainable development. He leads a team based in HK and Beijing to drive Group ESG Strategy Development and specialises in green energy applications, carbon neutrality and strategy, as well as climate resilience. They have published the Carbon Neutrality Commitment and Roadmap, conducted on-site physical risk assessment for critical assets & improved disclosure in alignment with TCFD / TNFD recommendations, set-up the ESG- Linked Compensation for C-suite members, disclosed Scope 3 emissions, and engaged with different stakeholders (including Board members, government authorities, NGOs, etc.).

Jasper serves as the Steering Committee of the BEC Sustainable Living Environment AG and Circular Economy AG; and is a member of the BEC Climate Change Business Forum AG. He is also a member of the International Gas Union Sustainability Committee; and Network representative of the Methane Guiding Principles. 

He is a Corporate Member of the HKIE. He is also registered at the Engineering Council as a Chartered Engineer, and professional member of the CIWEM, Energy Institute, etc. He holds other certifications such as the Certified Carbon Auditor and Certified ESG Planner.

Mr Zhang Huifeng joined HSBC in 2005. As the Regional Head of Corporate Sustainability Asia Pacific, he oversees the Bank’s sustainability strategy in the region. This include community investment in future skills, climate change, sustainable finance, community service areas. His team is also working closely with the whole sale and retail banking businesses to promote sustainable finance and investment within the Bank to support the development of low carbon economy. 

Before joining HSBC, Mr Zhang had worked at BNP Paribas and ABN AMRO in trade finance and corporate banking area. His prior experiences also include 7 years project management and consulting for World Bank and Asian Development Bank financed projects in China. 

Mr Zhang has a MBA degree from Manchester Business School, UK.

Ivy is the Managing Director of Leigh & Orange Ltd. (L&O) and Partner overseeing L&O’s business development and operations in China, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. L&O was founded in Hong Kong in 1874 and is an international architectural practice employing over 300 staff, with the group’s head office in the HKSAR. Branch offices are located in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Fuzhou, Macau and Doha under the management from the head office.

Ivy obtained her 1st Class Honours Degree in Architecture from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and joined L&O following graduation. In 2001, she qualified as a Registered Architect, and was elected as a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects in 2017. Ivy is a highly motivational leader and talented architect, also an influential member of the design and sustainability community. With an exemplary record for inspirational design and successful delivery of complex multi-disciplinary projects – both in the public and private sectors including many of the most complex recent projects in this region. Current projects include various sizeable mixed use and institutional projects globally. 

Ivy is a Board Member of the Architects Registration Board (ARB); Honorary Secretary of The Association Architectural Practices (AAP); and currently serves as a member of a range of key community and Government appointed advisory bodies such as: Energy Advisory Committee of the Environment Bureau, Building Committee and Tender Committee of the Hong Kong Housing Department. Ivy is currently a Board Member at the Ocean Park Corporation and was recently appointed as a Mentor for the "Strive and Rise Programme” of the HKSAR.

Horace Lo was appointed as Group Managing Director of Modern Terminals Limited in February 2020.

Horace joined Modern Terminals in 1995 as Project Development Manager. He has held various roles including Chief Development Officer and Director of Engineering, responsible for development projects in Mainland China and Hong Kong. He participated and led the development of several terminal projects for Modern Terminals, including Hong Kong’s largest Container Terminal 9, DaChan Bay Terminals in Pearl River Delta and Taicang Terminals in Yangtze River Delta. 
    
Modern Terminals commenced its sustainability journey as early as 2005. Mr Lo has been instrumental in the sustainable development of the Company. The Company managed to reduce the emission intensity of handling a standard container from 14.40 kg per TEU in 2008 to 8.78 kg per TEU in 2023, a reduction of 39%. (Note: TEU stands for twenty-foot equivalent container unit)

Under Mr Lo’s leadership, Modern Terminals has established its Sustainability Strategy in 2021 with a set of long-term goals covering five key sustainability pillars including Governance, People, Health & Safety, Environment, and Community Involvement. For decarbonisation, Modern Terminals aims to eliminate direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in its own operations by 2030, and to become carbon neutral by 2050.

Jonathan Chiu is President of Schneider Electric Hong Kong. He currently heads the company’s Management Committee responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operational delivery and business development for Schneider Electric in Hong Kong and Macau. 

Since joining Schneider Electric two decades ago, Jonathan has held leadership roles in various business divisions within the organization prior to being appointed as Hong Kong President in 2019. His previous roles included serving as Vice President of Partner & Channel Business covering Low-Voltage Power Products and the Digital Energy division, and as Vice President of the Secure Power division driving business relating to IT channels and mission-critical data centers in Hong Kong. 

An experienced leader in energy management and automation, Jonathan is passionate about leveraging the power of digitization and innovation in delivering a holistic ecosystem approach to sustainable transformation. His years of experience in process and energy technologies, end-point to cloud connecting products, controls, software and services have been instrumental in elevating Schneider Electric’s reach and impact, and in enabling integrated management for homes, buildings, data centers, infrastructure and industries in Hong Kong.

Ms Anne Yu has been named the Managing Director of Shell Hong Kong Limited since January 1, 2022. At the same time, she is the Global Head of Real Estate in Shell Mobility Network.

Between 2013 and July 2021, Ms Yu was the General Manager – Mobility of Shell Hong Kong Limited, leading a team of around 700 people covering frontline operation, sales, marketing and other support functions for the whole Shell’s retail network in Hong Kong and Macau. During her tenure, Ms Yu developed and executed a sustainable business strategy for retail stations which paid off with remarkable growth. Besides solid business performance, Ms Yu also delivered a number of firsts - offering hot coffee, biofuel and AdBlue® at pump in retail stations. Her team’s excellent customer service performance was repeatedly recognised with the Hong Kong Association for Customer Service Excellence’s Awards, beating traditionally strong competitors from aviation and banking sectors.

From 2007 to 2013, Ms Yu was the General Manager – Shell Gas (LPG). Her remit was to manage the entire business process of Shell Gas in Hong Kong from product supply to customer service delivery. Under Ms Yu’s leadership, the business significantly increased the market share and had its model revamped to achieve a higher cost efficiency in a long run.

Appointed by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department of the HKSAR Government, Ms Yu had served in public advisory roles in gas safety. Ms Yu is currently representing Shell Hong Kong in Business Environment Council as one of the Board Directors since January 2021.

Ms Yu joined Shell in 1992, after she graduated at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia with a Bachelor of Information Technology.

Mr Elver first joined Siemens in 1984. Prior to his current position, he served as the former President and CEO of Siemens Vietnam and held various senior management positions in Germany and China. With more than 35 years of experience working in the engineering and manufacturing industry, he has been leading the company to be a trusted technological partner and driving sustainable solutions in the field of smart infrastructure and industry. He received his Master's Degree in Computer Science from Technical University of Munich, Germany.

Mr Mark Harper has worked for around 20 years in the field of corporate sustainability. As Group Head of Sustainability at Swire, Mr Harper will be responsible for managing the Group Sustainable Development Office, and leading on the design, execution and performance monitoring of global corporate strategy for sustainability for the Swire Group, and acting as the lead change agent in driving improved sustainability performance and best practices, with a view to further embed sustainability into overall business strategy for Swire. 

Prior to taking up the Group Head of Sustainability role, Mr Harper had worked at John Swire & Sons (H.K.) Ltd. for over six years, where he was responsible for managing the Group’s ESG disclosures as well as advising operating companies on their own ESG submissions. In addition to his work on ESG ratings, Mr Harper was also responsible for advising the Group on policy and strategy development, particularly in the areas of climate resilience, biodiversity and sustainable waste management. He also sits on the Board of Business Environment Council, the Executive Committee of the Drink Without Waste working group, and is Vice Chair of the Environment and Energy Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.

Mr Harper has extensive experience of ESG disclosure standards such as GRI and the Hong Kong Exchange ESG Reporting Guide, as well as conducting sector focused benchmarking studies, corporate environmental management, as well as organising hands-on corporate citizenship and CSR training programmes.

Before joining John Swire & Sons (H.K.) Ltd., Mr Harper worked in a number of senior management roles at high profile NGOs including the Earthwatch Institute, Fauna & Flora International, China Water Risk, and Business Environment Council, where he was responsible for managing the organisations advisory services on ESG reporting and corporate sustainability strategy development.

Mr Patrick Ho is responsible for formulating and executing a corporate sustainability strategy for Swire Properties’ global operations across Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland and USA portfolios. Through engaging stakeholders, setting targets and developing action plans, he leads a team to manage the full spectrum of the Company’s environmental, social and economic impact and to integrate ESG considerations into every facet of Swire Properties’ business.  

In his role, Patrick works with senior leaders to establish the 1.5°C Science-Based Targets (SBT) to align with the pathway of limiting global warming to 1.5°C, and to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. He also worked on developing the Green Finance Framework for Swire Properties’ first US$500 million green bond and HK$500 million sustainability-linked loan, responding to emerging areas of sustainability such as Climate-related Financial Disclosures aligned with TCFD, embodied carbon emissions analysis for new development projects, and a strategic assessment of the climate-related physical and transition risks and opportunities under various future climate scenarios.

Patrick also led Swire Properties maintains its top listings on several global and regional sustainability indices and ratings, including the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (ranked 7th globally, 1st in Asia in 2021), Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB, Global Sector Leader in Mixed Use Developments for 6th consecutive year), MSCI ESG Ratings (highest “AAA” for 5th consecutive year) and Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index (No. 1 in Hong Kong for 5th consecutive year).  

Patrick is a Chartered Environmentalist, a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) and a Certified Carbon Auditor Professional. He sits on the Board of Business Environment Council and Corporate Advisory Board of World Green Building Council, and is a Member to the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Expert Advisory Group for Building Sector, and a Steering Committee Member of Climate Change Business Forum of the Business Environment Council.
