China's Belt and Road (“B&R”) Initiative is reshaping global trade and development, presenting both immense opportunities and a critical need for sustainable practices. As a leading international financial centre and a strategic gateway connecting Chinese Mainland with the world, Hong Kong is uniquely positioned to drive the green transformation of the B&R Initiative.
This role is strongly endorsed by the HKSAR Government. The Chief Executive’s 2025 Policy Address explicitly commits to deepening green co-operation with Belt and Road countries by establishing a B&R sustainable green development training centre and jointly setting up a co-operation platform in Hong Kong with the B&R Initiative International Green Development Coalition. This platform will serve as a launchpad for an international forum focused on green innovation, cementing Hong Kong's status as a hub for sustainable development dialogue.
This conference will explore how Hong Kong can leverage its world-class expertise to support this vision across four critical domains: its excellence in infrastructure engineering and financing, leadership in green real estate and urban development, innovation in the clean energy transition, and unparalleled capabilities in sustainable transport and logistics. By convening leaders and practitioners, this conference aims to forge partnerships and showcase actionable solutions to build a greener, more resilient Belt and Road.
In this Conference, we aim to:
- Identify the critical sustainable development needs and validate promising green transition opportunities within Belt and Road countries, particularly in Asia.
- Demonstrate the expertise of Hong Kong's leading companies by sharing practical case studies and successful projects in infrastructure, real estate, energy, and logistics across the BRI, Chinese Mainland, and Hong Kong.
- Articulate and promote Hong Kong's unique role as a central hub for green finance, technology, and professional services, catalysing support for the sustainable development of Belt and Road nations.
