Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2050 update presents an opportunity to shape the next phase of the city’s transition towards carbon neutrality. Alongside Hong Kong’s First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development, it provides a timely basis for considering how climate action can strengthen competitiveness, guide investment and support a resilient economy. 

For businesses, this transition involves decisions about energy procurement, building improvements, materials, transport and the protection of assets and operations against physical climate risks. Progress will depend on clear policy direction, commercially viable solutions, access to finance and coordination across government and industry. It also creates opportunities for Hong Kong’s companies to develop new services, improve resource productivity and strengthen the city’s position as an international financial, trading, maritime and aviation centre. 

Building on BEC’s policy recommendations for the Climate Action Plan 2050 update, this one-day EnviroSeries Conference will bring together policymakers, business leaders, financiers and practitioners to explore the conditions needed to accelerate implementation. Through practical cases and discussions across energy, the built environment, transport and climate resilience, the Conference will examine how government and business can support investment and delivery.

• Demonstrate practical approaches to reducing emissions and resource use, strengthening resilience and making climate investment commercially viable.
