BEC’s Response to the Public Consultation on Hong Kong 2030+

BEC is now inviting members’ comments on our draft submission on Hong Kong 2030+, which is scheduled to be submitted to the Government by late April. The draft submission has been developed through working with our advisory groups and taskforces, which comprise many of our member representatives. 2017 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence

BEC, as one of the 11 organisers of the "2017 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence" (HKAEE), is now inviting local companies/ organisations to join this annual landmark event of the environmental sector in Hong Kong. Three information dissemination and experience sharing seminars will be conducted in May and June 2017, inviting experienced professionals and industry practitioners to share their expertise and insights on how to maximise efficiency. Eligibility, assessment procedures and application procedures of the 2017 HKAEE will also be introduced in the seminars.

Sponsored by the Environment and Conservation Fund, the Environmental Campaign Committee launched the HKAEE to encourage businesses and organisations to adopt green management, and to present them with an opportunity to benchmark and recognise their commitments towards environmental protection. BEC Met Big Waster at Hong Kong Flower Show

BEC is a keen supporter of Environmental Protection Department’s waste reduction initiatives. Earlier this month, our student volunteers joined Big Waster in promoting the message of source separation and clean recycling at the Hong Kong Flower Show 2017 in the Victoria Park, receiving enthusiastic and positive feedbacks from the public.

BEC at Hong Kong Rugby Sevens

2017 marks the fourth year of the "Green Sevens" campaign of Hong Kong Sevens. This year, Hong Kong Rugby Union will collaborate with the Environment Bureau, Business Environment Council, Stadium Management, and the key sponsors of the tournament to launch a series of waste reduction and recycling initiatives at Hong Kong Stadium and Chater Garden from 7 to 9 April 2017. Let’s come along and join us to tackle waste to win! See you there!

BEC IEE Training Courses

How to Write an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report?  (2nd Intake) (25 April 2017) – Are you ready to start your ESG reporting journey? In this 3-hour course, you will learn about the requirements of the ESG Reporting Guide, key steps involved in report preparation, and current trends in reporting. Introduction to Principles and Quantification Methods for Organisational and Product Carbon Footprint (2nd Intake – conducted in Cantonese) (27 April 2017) - This course will introduce the differences between principle and quantification methods of organisational footprint and those of product carbon footprint, and also the relevant international standards to be applied. This course will introduce some essential knowledge of planning and implementation for transforming an EB to a certified green building, and highlights the major amendments in the new version of BEAM Plus EB V2.0. 10 March: BEC Industry Visit to Towngas Headquarters

More than 20 BEC members and friends joined the Industry Visit to Towngas Headquarters - the first existing commercial building in Hong Kong being awarded the BEAM Plus Platinum rating.  All participants were impressed by the innovative and green facilities in the building, such as the Auto-Tossing Gas Wok, high efficient steam cabinet, and oil-free variable speed water-cooled chiller. 


16 March: Low Carbon HK: The Leadership Challenge - How to Go about Influencing your Company to set Carbon Reduction Targets?

This 3-hour workshop brought together the sustainability professionals to exchange views on the barriers and opportunities from setting long term carbon reduction targets, as well as co-creation of approaches to initiate the process and obtain the buy-in of internal and external stakeholders. A lively group discussion marked the end of this workshop on plans for next steps.

17 March: BEC Policy Dialogue Series: 2017 Policy Address & Hong Kong 2030+

Secretary for Development Mr Eric Ma and Deputy Director of Planning/ Territorial Ms Phyllis Li introduced the development policies and strategies set out in the 2017 Policy Address and the Hong Kong 2030+. They also joined a panel discussion to exchange views with BEC Members and the wider audience on various development related topics. 

27 March: School Talks on Climate Change

Partnered with the Hong Kong Observatory, BEC delivered a school talk to over 100 students of Pui Shing Catholic Secondary School in Tin Shui Wai on 27 March 2017 so as to enhance their awareness and understanding of climate change issues. For more details, please click here
